Wanderful

An exhibition of paintings by local artist Ellie Tate. Ellie felt inspired to make this series of works after experiencing feelings of wonder and connectedness during regular walks along the Thanet coast. Ellie relied on two simultaneous processes whilst making the paintings: zoning in which involved close examination of pattern, colour, form and focusing on parts of a whole, and zoning out which meant trusting instinct, finding flow and recognising wholeness. It is this contrast of being focused and removed, a kind of mindful wandering, that allowed Ellie to express through painting the balance she experienced whilst being out in nature.

Ellie is a self taught artist living and working in Margate. She has exhibited paintings in numerous group shows as well as exhibiting solo, and has been commissioned to make work by established organisations such as Tate Modern and The Affordable Art Fair.
